Buy and Sell Domains Online with Slacker Business
Posted by Jacques - July 6, 2009
What’s easier than making money on your couch with your laptop while watching your favorite tv show? Domaining is the business of buying and selling domain property, in other words, it’s about making money off of selling .com names. This business is very simple and I know from experience that it can be somewhat lucrative if you are careful with your choices. I’ve recently sold a domain for $300 that I purchased for $8. All I had to do was register the domain name but there are other ways to increase your profit margin.

Making Vacations Fun Again
Posted by Jacques - April 23, 2009Okay, so I’ve been on a vacation… sort of. But I’m going on another one shortly. One of the things I’ve noticed is that planning a vacation can sometimes be a logistical nightmare and really feel like more work. So the trick for me was to imagine that our vacation was a business trip, and plan it accordingly. I realized, on business trips, I don’t stress about the hotel I’m going to be staying at, or what time my flight will get in. Immediately, the burden of having to create the perfect itinerary and activity schedule melted away. The point of a vacation is to have fun, getaway, and relax. If you don’t do those things, you might as well stay home.
Follow my simple rules for planning a vacation.
1. Stick to the big cities for consistency.
It is possible, but much more difficult to plan a vacation in a smaller city. Big cities tend to have cheaper flights, more options for stay, a larger variety of activities, and some have really functional and cheap mass transit.
2. Always have a vacation bag pre-packed with everything but clothes.
This would be things like bathing suit, travel charger, passport, or other things that you know you’ll take. The clothes you pack will change depending on the weather, but at least this way everything else will be done. Continue reading Making Vacations Fun Again…
Slacker Method for Getting Emails on Any Cell Phone
Posted by Jacques - January 3, 2009
I like to stay connected, but I don’t always like to carry around a bulky blackberry or smartphone with me. Sometimes, I like to walk around sporting a slimmer or simpler phone that looks better in my pocket or isn’t complicated to use. Whenever I’m in the mood to take my Razr instead of my Crackberry, I simply forward my emails to my phone. No special software to download, no services to pay for, no messy hacking.

Slacker Method for Christmas Gift Budgeting (revised)
Posted by Jacques - December 18, 2008Since Christmas is almost here, I thought I’d share a tip about how to budget for friends and family using an extremely simple math strategy. Often near the Holidays, we want to keep to a budget but it tends to creep upwards more often than not. Especially in these economic times, it is tougher than ever to break our budgets and give just a little bit more to loved ones. Taking an emotional problem and applying a partially objective solution definitely will ease the anxiety and decision making process when it comes down to a simple method of crunching the numbers.
Step 1: Grade
To start this, take a napkin or paper towel (slacker’s don’t use real paper) and write down the names of everyone who you plan giving a gift to. Then, give them a score between 1 and 10 of how important they are to you (If it’s 0, then why are you even bothering?).
For example, my list would look something like this:
- Wife - 10
- Mom - 9
- Best Friend - 7
- Coworker - 5

Slacker Method for Losing Weight by Swapping Foods
Posted by Jacques - December 10, 2008
Unfortunately, this slacker has not found a magic pill. Luckily, there is a magic formula! Calories Consumed - Calories Burned = Weight Loss/Gain. Yep, I’m sorry, that’s it, but at least it’s a simple formula. We can attack this problem one of two ways, either by lowering the consumption side or increasing the calories burned side. If we’re smart, then we’ll do a little of both without having to do any significant work.

Slacker Method for Losing Weight Using Circuit Training
Posted by Jacques - December 5, 2008
Exercise is always a rough part of the weight loss equation (calories eaten - calories burned). Slackers naturally don’t like to exercise or otherwise overexert themselves. Here’s a tip, you can cut the recommended 20 minutes a day down to twice a week by swapping out your aerobic exercise with circuit training which combines elements of both. You burn your normal calories during your exercise, but you also increase your residual burn for the rest of the week by building muscle and increasing your metabolism. The perfect slacker solution!

About The Slacker Method
Posted by Jacques - November 17, 2008The Slacker Methodology is all about making things easy for us, while getting the things we want. If that seems like we want to have our cake and eat it too, then I disagree. Only if it is cake on a stick.
Slackers are usually educated, well-meaning, moral, and notoriously sluggish. We are often quick witted, but slow to act. This is purposeful and deliberate in every way, but we are often treated as outcasts unworthy of the society we live in. The truth of the matter is that we like who we are, and we don’t struggle to do things that don’t make sense to us. We don’t want to make sense, we’d rather make dollars.
Our parents follow the rule that we work hard to get what we want while we follow the rule that if we get what we want now, then the work itself becomes much easier. Work smart, not stupid.
Sometimes as people, we make things more complex than they are. Once we understand them, we realize that most things really are simple. The problem is that usually things don’t make sense to us. Why would you invest in the stock market when it is going down? Why do women expect flowers after proclaiming they don’t need them? Why do people drink things that make them sick, muddled, and forgetful? To learn and understand the world around us we must utilize our experience and the collective experience of those around us. Only through the first person, or through the benefit of someone elses first person will be able to maximize the potential of our minds and quickly organize the world around us into neat folders in our brains. It’s not rocket science, it’s taxonomy!
