TheSlackerMethod.com Featured With Top 100 Productivity Blogs
Posted by Jacques - February 6, 2009Well some of you may know that Chinese New Year’s just passed. On their astrological calendar, I would be an Ox, and this is the year of the Ox, so hopefully, this is a good year for me and for the blog.
Things are looking up but just wanted to share with you a post that features our website along with 99 other productivity blogs. Some of my favorite blogs are listed there like Zen Habits and Lifehacker. There seems to be a trend where Lifehacker and Zen Habits are mentioned, I get a mention too! Guilty by association. =)
Breaking News! The Slacker Method is Popular, like Lifehacker!
Posted by Jacques - February 2, 2009Once in a while I come across something that makes me feel good inside, like the world is right. It’s no secret that I’ve been working hard to write quality content, build my subscriber base, and connect to the world. According to one blogger, The Slacker Method is a popular blog, like Zen Habits and Lifehacker.
Awesome.
It’s not exactly universal knowledge. It’s “a posteriori”, meaning, to some people this may be true, but it is not a universal fact that my blog is popular. Either way, I’m happy that to someone, the words I write and the ideas I share have meaning.

First of all, I want to thank everyone who took to the time to explain their inspiration. Some of you went above and beyond the call of duty and I wish I could give you all free books. I’m going to make this short and sweet. I was only going to give away one copy of each book but after reading some of the entries, I wanted to buy one more copy of The Power of Less. Here are the winners of The Power of Less, The Money Book, and The 4 Hour Work Week Giveaway. Also, I want to thank Leo Babauta taking the time to congratulate the winners of his book. Life Changing Authors Meet and Free Book Giveaway
Posted by Jacques - January 16, 2009

1/19/09 The winners have been announced.
This month, two authors that have had the greatest influence on my life met together and discussed their basic philosophies. It is a pleasure and a treat for me to be able to witness them interact with each other as I have learned so much from both of them. Earlier in January, Tim Ferris author of The Four Hour Work Week blog interviewed Leo, and then just yesterday, Leo interviewed Tim Ferris and posted the audio on his blog Zen Habits. Again, this was a treat for me, and I was excited to see them recognize each other for their great contributions. Leo for showing us how wonderful it is to live our lives simply, and Tim for how much we can accomplish if we focus and streamline.
Today, I am offering their books, The Power of Less (Hardcover) by Leo Babauta and The 4 Hour Work Week (Hardcover) by Tim Ferris. Also another author that has inspired me to do more with my money is Suze Orman. I will be giving away her book too, The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke. These books will absolutely change your life.

Slacker Method for a Successful New Year’s Resolution
Posted by Jacques - December 31, 2008The easiest method for actually accomplishing your New Year’s resolution is to make it achievable. No, that doesn’t mean we dumb it down to, “I will exercise once in 2009″ but we don’t expect everyone to, “complete an Iron Man race.” Rather, we should understand that resolutions aren’t meant to impress anyone, they serve to remind us that
each year we can continually improve ourselves. I would go with, “Exercise at least twice a week for 30 minutes.”
Something that I remembered from my school years is that in order to set a good goal, it has to be a SMART goal. Specific, Measurable, Attainable (but not too attainable), Realistic, and Time Bound. At the same time, it has to challenge you to improve in some way. Creating a goal that you can accomplish right away, or is something that you already do is quite pointless. First Post
Posted by Jacques - November 17, 2008This is my first post on The Slacker Method. I’ll start by saying that this blog isn’t going to be about doing nothing for the sake of doing nothing. It’s going to be about doing less while conveniently accomplishing more. If it isn’t convenient, I’m probably not going to do it.
