Life Changing Authors Meet and Free Book Giveaway
Posted by Jacques - January 16, 2009

1/19/09 The winners have been announced.
This month, two authors that have had the greatest influence on my life met together and discussed their basic philosophies. It is a pleasure and a treat for me to be able to witness them interact with each other as I have learned so much from both of them. Earlier in January, Tim Ferris author of The Four Hour Work Week blog interviewed Leo, and then just yesterday, Leo interviewed Tim Ferris and posted the audio on his blog Zen Habits. Again, this was a treat for me, and I was excited to see them recognize each other for their great contributions. Leo for showing us how wonderful it is to live our lives simply, and Tim for how much we can accomplish if we focus and streamline.
Today, I am offering their books, The Power of Less (Hardcover) by Leo Babauta and The 4 Hour Work Week (Hardcover) by Tim Ferris. Also another author that has inspired me to do more with my money is Suze Orman. I will be giving away her book too, The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke. These books will absolutely change your life.

The Muse Stops by For a Chat
Posted by Jacques - January 10, 2009
Jill Badonsky of The Muse Is In stopped by for a chat. During her visit, I was able to ask her a few questions and learn more about some of the cool things that she has going on. She was also kind enough to provide a copy of today’s page from her book, The Awe-Manac. I picked this book up at Barnes and Noble, and if you’re a fan of inspiration and creativity, then this is the book to get. If anything, you have to visit her website to take a look at some of her artwork. Below is our discussion which you can find on her blog.
Jacques from www.theslackermethod.com is the second stop on The Awe-manac Blog Tour: Take a look at his site… there’s lots of fun, interesting and practical pieces of wisdom there and today’s Awe-manac page is posted there. (It may be up this evening as Jacques is a busy Slacking).
Jacques: The first question I want to ask is, who does all the cool artwork on your website?!
Jill: Hi Jacques. I do the art work at www.themuseisin.com . My friend, Jeff Kahn, animated the illustration on the front page with Flash. Thanks for calling it cool. The Awe-manac has over 400 of my llustrations in it.
Jacques: Let’s address this book you have out in stores, The Awe-manac. Why do we want it, and Where do we get it?
Jill: Well, in Slacker terms, this would be a one-stop read for people who want a convenient place to get a dose of daily humor, a creativity prompt, a glimpse of history for the day, a little inspiration, a view of some art that was sometimes done on the fly, and a book heavy enough to press flowers when you’re not reading it.The reports I’m getting from the people who HAVE bought The Awe-manac is that it is a lot of fun and they are having a hard time reading just one page at a time, but don’t take my word. There are some great testimonials at www.amazon.com
Slacker Interviews Lazy Man
Posted by Jacques - January 8, 2009
One of the blogs that I watch a lot is Lazy Man and Money (our logos look eerily similar). The concept is really cool, if you’re lazy but want to respect your money and time, then there are some basic concepts you should learn.
Lazy Man, thank you for agreeing to do this interview. One of the things I have to ask is if you think being “lazy” is good or bad, or just the way some people are?
I think you have to take the good with the bad when it comes to laziness. I often miss out on opportunities because I’m lazy. The other day I missed a deadline on a Black Friday rebate and I’m kicking myself for it. Lazy Man and Money isn’t about that kind of laziness. It’s about working smarter instead of working harder. It’s realizing that saving and investing today can put you in a position to not have to work tomorrow. I go into a little more detail on my About page.

Free File Storage at Zen Dump.com
Posted by Jacques - December 28, 2008Yesterday was an unusually busy day for me. It went something like this…
Wake up really late, write a little bit, pay some bills, wife drags me out of the house, we run to the bank and deposit some money, drive to Bed Bath & Beyond, stop by Starbucks, run to Barnes and Noble, visit Circuit City, then Men’s Wearhouse, ate lunch at Einstein Brothers, drove to the bike shop, drove further to Williams-Sonoma, toured Ikea (you can’t visit Ikea, you have to tour it), popped into Office Depot, had dinner at an awesome Cuban Bistro, got some goodies at a bakery, then went home and played Monopoly. Twice. Continue reading Free File Storage at Zen Dump.com…
Merry Christmas and some gifts from Zen Habits
Posted by Jacques - December 25, 2008Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays to everyone!
Times are difficult this year, and if you’ve survived Christmas without bankrupting your finances and your emotions, you are one of the lucky few. For those of you who are struggling, Leo Babauta has decided to give out his free ebook called Thriving on Less. It is especially relevant and much appreciated that he is willing to present his work at this time. His gift for us this Christmas, is to show us that debt, bling, and material possessions are dated, and that there really is life after “things”.
For those of you who don’t know, Leo is the author of Zen Habits, one of my favorite blogs on productivity, self improvement, and spirituality (in a sense). I have pre-ordered his new book called The Power of Less and highly recommend everyone check it out.
Take Care!
Twin Armada.com Clothing Store Relaunched
Posted by Jacques - December 14, 2008
A friend of mine and his partners have relaunched their online clothing boutique self-labeled as contemporary asian. They are extremely sharp about fashion and design, and although I am a bit biased, I really enjoy shopping for clothes at their site more than others. My friend shoots all the amazing photos you’ll see in the store, hand picks his models and inspects every product created by a slew of up and coming designers.
After months of development and with the help of the technical team at Twin Armada, the store boasts an improved and streamlined shopping experience and a gorgeous site.
