About Me
There are two seemingly very different people I know in my life.
One of them is a successful entrepreneur with several businesses and employees. In the past year or so he has gotten married, ran for a board position and lost, ran for another board position and won, started a contract job for banking systems consulting, started cycling 10 miles to work, all the while attending night school for accounting. He purchased a home in his early twenties all on his own, and drives a luxury sedan.
The other person is a stark contrast. He’s constantly on the computer or watching television. He’s still going to school but he never goes to class. He does whatever he wants, with no belief in hard work. He has fun all day long and his wife is always complaining about his shennanigans and schemes. The problem is that this person has all the things that the first person has without any effort. In fact they are the same person, and that person is me.
Somewhere along the way I learned that being a slacker and having success in life are not mutually exclusive. People have this belief that successful individuals are made that way through luck or through mind numbing intense labor and struggle. I’m a believer that we can have everything we want without any huge effort and that regardless of what others say, slackers “deserve” it just as much as them.
