Sidewalk Money for Slackers

disco There’s a lot of money on sidewalks. I don’t mean that shiny penny on the ground, I mean all the people walking by you have money in their pockets and it just as easily could be in yours. No, I don’t recommend pit pocketing for it as that would require lots of “effort” which frankly slackers like to avoid. I’m talking about street performance for money. It’s a little bit more fun than pan handling and a bit more profitable especially because the cops won’t make you move quite as often.

You could do anything you want to really, as long as it isn’t offensive. Music is an obvious choice, but that would require having some skills as well as a significant catalog of music to play. You’d also have to be wary of the type of instrument as moving a keyboard is a lot more hassle than an acoustic guitar. Singing while playing earns twice as much.

But you don’t have to sing, you could also dance. One grad student was able to finance his education in by disco dancing on the sidewalk. Others make their money while standing completely still, or painting themselves as robots while moving “robotically.” The sky’s the limit here, use your imagination and just have fun. People might think, man that guy is crazy, but you’ll be the one making cash for doing something you’d probably do for free.

You need something you can do that’s portable, and an area where there’s a lot of street traffic but not a lot of open stores. For example, in downtown Orlando, there is a street called Wall Street that has a lot of clubs nearby. You could park yourself next to one of the stores that are closed at night nearby, so the store manager’s won’t be there to make you go away, and you’ll be free to perform.

Best street performance I heard of was this guy sleeping on the stairs of the stock market with a sign next to him sayin: Just Born Lazy. A lot of smiles and a lot of money. That’s real slacking, lol. To learn how to play and sing takes years of work.
