Living Without a Job - The Unemployed Slacker Life
Posted by Jacques - August 23, 2009
So you were laid off, or maybe you were born unemployed. Maybe you don’t want to work, or more likely, there really isn’t anything work to be found. I think this is a relevant discussion as most economists believe unemployment is going to remain in the double digits for most of 2010. How do we slackers remain vigilant in our daily lives when even jobs in the public library or at the local smoothie shop are thin?
Well, this needs to be attacked from two angles. First, we need to accept that spending money is usually what causes us need to get more of it so we need to understand that the less we consume the less we will need to work or worry, and it happens to be great for the environment too. Secondly, we have to learn that jobs aren’t the only source of cash, and if you don’t understand that, then you are missing out on a huge opportunity to live the quiet, sedentary lifestyle you deserve.

Slacker Day Trading At Home
Posted by Jacques - July 19, 2009
It takes a special kind of personality to be able to sit at home for a few hours each day staring at a charts and tick marks, watching money go up and down without flinching, and ultimately being able to sit back and make rational decisions in a industry driven by irrational behavior.
I’m talking about day trading. While it can be stressful and sometimes overwhelming, day trading can be done at home, with months not years of education, and can be a source of full time income. Keep in mind that is not investing, but a job, so it must be treated as such. I have compiled a short list of beginner tips for getting started from other extremely successful day traders, but keep in mind, all of these strategies work but they can easily fail if applied the wrong way. While I’m certainly not an expert, the experience that I have proves that it can be a very lucrative business with very little time investment. Check out this list and then see if you’re still interested before diving in.

Bank of America $100 Free Cash Alert!
Posted by Jacques - July 8, 2009
Earlier this year I talked about making money by participating in bank promotions. Now, I don’t condone opening bank accounts simply for the reason of making money, but making money while evaluating a bank’s services seems like a fair deal to me.
I just saw an advertisement for Bank of America’s Get More promotion. In this new program they pledge to give you a $100 bonus for opening a new account, and charging something to your debit card within 30 days. You’ll need $250 to deposit in order to participate, but that’s a return of 30% over 90 days, or if you want to compare to interest in a savings account, an annualized rate of 120% versus 1-2% for your standard savings.
Buy and Sell Domains Online with Slacker Business
Posted by Jacques - July 6, 2009
What’s easier than making money on your couch with your laptop while watching your favorite tv show? Domaining is the business of buying and selling domain property, in other words, it’s about making money off of selling .com names. This business is very simple and I know from experience that it can be somewhat lucrative if you are careful with your choices. I’ve recently sold a domain for $300 that I purchased for $8. All I had to do was register the domain name but there are other ways to increase your profit margin.

Iranian Girl Dies from Sniper Fire
Posted by Jacques - June 21, 2009
I’m not going to post the video because it is too graphic, but I saw an Iranian girl called Neda die on camera for anti-government protesting and I had to share my feelings on this tragedy. Please take a moment out of your day to reflect on everything that is going on in the world, and if you can, a brief moment of silence to pray for Neda in the afterlife, regardless of whatever religion you believe in. This girl was only 16 years old, and was shot in the chest by a cowardly miltia sniper.

Online Slacker Income Through Monkey Jar!
Posted by Jacques - June 13, 2009
We all know that online businesses have the greatest potential for slacker glory. Setup a website just right and the internet will throw money at you, right? Wrong! I’ve participated in many online businesses that have actually generated losses, usually due to advertising costs. This is why I have not recommended them as a source of slacker income in the past. However, when you have right combination of elements and opportunity, some online businesses will work. Once that happens, there’s no limit to how much goofing off you can do while your business generates cash.
Monkey Jar is the best of the online affiliate programs to date. It essentially is a huge affiliate consolidation program into one affiliate revenue source. Just add the stores you want in your “mall” and voila, you can make money shopping at the places you already shop at, such as Itunes, Amazon, StubHub, etc. The key to this is you invite your friends to open their own personal mall with whatever stores they already shop at. You get a piece of their sales as well, and if they invite members, you get theirs too.
I normally do not participate in affiliate programs as they usually benefit the company selling the product than the affiliate. However, one of the things I’ve learned is that the most successful affiliate programs have some kind of an edge that attracts explosive growth, and combined with a multiple level commission structure it is hard for me to ignore. Plus, MonkeyJar is new, which is the best time to get into an affiliate program.
Slackers Make Money Hanging Out At the Beach
Posted by Jacques - June 6, 2009
Another week has gone by, and the recession doesn’t seem any closer to being over as before. Nevertheless, a slacker will always find the laziest ways to make money regardless of the economic condition. If you like the idea of making money, while getting ripped and tanned from all that beach walking, then you’ve definitely got to check out beachcombing.
Beachcombing is simply a term for searching the beach for something of value. Then you can sell it, keep it, or trade it for something else.

The Easiest Way to Save Money Ever
Posted by Jacques - May 31, 2009Today’s tip also contains an important life lesson. Sometimes saving money is the easiest way to make money. While making money requires you to find those opportunities, the opportunity for saving money is always there, and usually the rewards are guaranteed.
While there are literally thousands of ways to save a ton of money, not everyone is able to benefit from that kind of advice. I’m going to provide a tip that I believe will help 90% of you. For the rest, go watch some Suze Orman.

Slackers Get Easy Cash From Banks
Posted by Jacques - May 23, 2009
While I’m extremely vocal about living cheaper and automated savings as a means of preserving slacker financial security, these are often long-term investments that tend to give minor returns in short-term. The highest savings rate I’ve ever seen was 5.00% at Capital One, and the standard mutual fund will return about 10% over time per year.
I’ve discovered that with a little research, you can take a portion of your money and earn about 100% or 200% returns over a year simply by evaluating banks you don’t already have an account at. This has been done for some time now, but if you work at it, you can make some serious returns. I recently put $100 into one national bank and got $100 bonus after 3 months. Some regional banks will match your money instantly, and at one regional bank, I opened a free checking account with no deposit, and got $50 no strings attached!
I do not condone purely entering into these promotions for personal gain, you should at least evaluate the bank for its products and services during this trial period.
Here are some notes I’ve compiled about this method:

Sidewalk Money for Slackers
Posted by Jacques - May 16, 2009
There’s a lot of money on sidewalks. I don’t mean that shiny penny on the ground, I mean all the people walking by you have money in their pockets and it just as easily could be in yours. No, I don’t recommend pit pocketing for it as that would require lots of “effort” which frankly slackers like to avoid. I’m talking about street performance for money. It’s a little bit more fun than pan handling and a bit more profitable especially because the cops won’t make you move quite as often.
You could do anything you want to really, as long as it isn’t offensive. Music is an obvious choice, but that would require having some skills as well as a significant catalog of music to play. You’d also have to be wary of the type of instrument as moving a keyboard is a lot more hassle than an acoustic guitar. Singing while playing earns twice as much.
