Iranian Girl Dies from Sniper Fire

*Jun 21 - 00:05*I’m not going to post the video because it is too graphic, but I saw an Iranian girl called Neda die on camera for anti-government protesting and I had to share my feelings on this tragedy. Please take a moment out of your day to reflect on everything that is going on in the world, and if you can, a brief moment of silence to pray for Neda in the afterlife, regardless of whatever religion you believe in. This girl was only 16 years old, and was shot in the chest by a cowardly miltia sniper.

There is more information on the New York Daily News website.

Online Slacker Income Through Monkey Jar!

monkey-jarWe all know that online businesses have the greatest potential for slacker glory. Setup a website just right and the internet will throw money at you, right? Wrong! I’ve participated in many online businesses that have actually generated losses, usually due to advertising costs. This is why I have not recommended them as a source of slacker income in the past. However, when you have right combination of elements and opportunity, some online businesses will work. Once that happens, there’s no limit to how much goofing off you can do while your business generates cash.

Monkey Jar is the best of the online affiliate programs to date. It essentially is a huge affiliate consolidation program into one affiliate revenue source. Just add the stores you want in your “mall” and voila, you can make money shopping at the places you already shop at, such as Itunes, Amazon, StubHub, etc. The key to this is you invite your friends to open their own personal mall with whatever stores they already shop at. You get a piece of their sales as well, and if they invite members, you get theirs too.

I normally do not participate in affiliate programs as they usually benefit the company selling the product than the affiliate. However, one of the things I’ve learned is that the most successful affiliate programs have some kind of an edge that attracts explosive growth, and combined with a multiple level commission structure it is hard for me to ignore. Plus, MonkeyJar is new, which is the best time to get into an affiliate program.

Slackers Make Money Hanging Out At the Beach

beach-junkAnother week has gone by, and the recession doesn’t seem any closer to being over as before. Nevertheless, a slacker will always find the laziest ways to make money regardless of the economic condition. If you like the idea of making money, while getting ripped and tanned from all that beach walking, then you’ve definitely got to check out beachcombing.

Beachcombing is simply a term for searching the beach for something of value. Then you can sell it, keep it, or trade it for something else.

The Easiest Way to Save Money Ever

Today’s tip also contains an important life lesson. Sometimes saving money is the easiest way to make money. While making money requires you to find those opportunities, the opportunity for saving money is always there, and usually the rewards are guaranteed.

While there are literally thousands of ways to save a ton of money, not everyone is able to benefit from that kind of advice. I’m going to provide a tip that I believe will help 90% of you. For the rest, go watch some Suze Orman.

Slackers Get Easy Cash From Banks

breaking-piggybankWhile I’m extremely vocal about living cheaper and automated savings as a means of preserving slacker financial security, these are often long-term investments that tend to give minor returns in short-term. The highest savings rate I’ve ever seen was 5.00% at Capital One, and the standard mutual fund will return about 10% over time per year.

I’ve discovered that with a little research, you can take a portion of your money and earn about 100% or 200% returns over a year simply by evaluating banks you don’t already have an account at. This has been done for some time now, but if you work at it, you can make some serious returns. I recently put $100 into one national bank and got $100 bonus after 3 months. Some regional banks will match your money instantly, and at one regional bank, I opened a free checking account with no deposit, and got $50 no strings attached!

I do not condone purely entering into these promotions for personal gain, you should at least evaluate the bank for its products and services during this trial period.

Here are some notes I’ve compiled about this method:

Sidewalk Money for Slackers

discoThere’s a lot of money on sidewalks. I don’t mean that shiny penny on the ground, I mean all the people walking by you have money in their pockets and it just as easily could be in yours. No, I don’t recommend pit pocketing for it as that would require lots of “effort” which frankly slackers like to avoid. I’m talking about street performance for money. It’s a little bit more fun than pan handling and a bit more profitable especially because the cops won’t make you move quite as often.

You could do anything you want to really, as long as it isn’t offensive. Music is an obvious choice, but that would require having some skills as well as a significant catalog of music to play. You’d also have to be wary of the type of instrument as moving a keyboard is a lot more hassle than an acoustic guitar. Singing while playing earns twice as much.

Convincing Yourself to be Productive Every Day

PD*26677822Slackers tend to have this kind of disease that is both a blessing and a curse. We try to live life to its maximum enjoyment but it is often self defeating. People to this day have no idea of the kind of struggle it is for me to get up and do something. I know I have to be productive, but I often never take even the first step towards it.

Procrastination and laziness are my sworn enemies.

Here are the steps that get me mentally prepped for completing tasks.

Earn Slacker Money With Bottled Water

water-and-moneyEvery Saturday is money day here at The Slacker Method, and this time, I’m putting my money where my mouth is by working my own idea.

You see, remembering to bring bottled water with you saves you one dollar. Remembering that a hundred people will forget to bring water to the community garage sale this weekend, will save you one hundred dollars.

My good friend Lily @ purechocolateliving.com reminded me of this good fact as I prepared to sell many of my unneeded trinkets and gadgets (by the way, the chocolate stuff is fantastic!).

So without hesitation I thought of us slackers, needing another way to make money without actually doing anything at all. I bought some water at a wholesale club about $10 for 70 bottles, and then marked them for sale @ one dollar each. I nearly sold out after selling water for only a couple hours. It’s certainly a healthy alternative to selling your body fluids.

Here’s a few things I learned about this method of making cash:

Quick Easy Cash for Your Plasma

plasma-for-cashWe’re going to start a new tradition here at The Slacker Method due to the economic conditions. Every Saturday, I will provide you a new scheme to make money. We’ll call them Scheming Saturdays. These schemes will be tailored to slackers. They’ll also be quick to utilize, meaning, you might be able to use it tonight if you really wanted to.

Today is about plasma. Some of you may already know this, but it’s really one of the easiest and most effective ways to earn some spending cash quickly. Donating your blood is generally free but selling the plasma within your blood can be relatively lucrative.

Donating your plasma can easily earn you an extra $270/week for about 8 hours of work. Not a bad price to pay. In addition, there are really no educational or physical requirements other than to be healthy and they feed the blood back into you, so you usually won’t feel weak or sick. Plasma is accepted from all blood types. There are special cases where you can earn 4-5 x’s more if you have a rare condition that is beneficial to the plasma collection center. Here are the steps to get you started:

Making Vacations Fun Again

Okay, so I’ve been on a vacation… sort of. But I’m going on another one shortly. One of the things I’ve noticed is that planning a vacation can sometimes be a logistical nightmare and really feel like more work. So the trick for me was to imagine that our vacation was a business trip, and plan it accordingly. I realized, on business trips, I don’t stress about the hotel I’m going to be staying at, or what time my flight will get in. Immediately, the burden of having to create the perfect itinerary and activity schedule melted away. The point of a vacation is to have fun, getaway, and relax. If you don’t do those things, you might as well stay home.

frustrated-planning-vacationFollow my simple rules for planning a vacation.

1. Stick to the big cities for consistency.
It is possible, but much more difficult to plan a vacation in a smaller city. Big cities tend to have cheaper flights, more options for stay, a larger variety of activities, and some have really functional and cheap mass transit.

2. Always have a vacation bag pre-packed with everything but clothes.
This would be things like bathing suit, travel charger, passport, or other things that you know you’ll take. The clothes you pack will change depending on the weather, but at least this way everything else will be done. Continue reading Making Vacations Fun Again…
